Background: Canada got independence from United Kingdom in 1931 with the Statute of Westminster. On request of Parliament of Canada, it was possible for British Parliament to amend Canada’s constitution until 1982. After the implementation of Constitution Act 1982, Canada took over this authority from Britain.
