The Tungnath temple opened on 2nd May, 2018 this year. Tungnath is one of the Panch Kedar temples, the other four being Kedarnath, Madhmaheshwar, Rudranath, Kalpeshwar.
Tungnath trek is nearly 5 km from Chopta. The famous temple is set on the crest of a hill, at a height of 3460 mtr above sea-level, and from here one can view the meadows, valleys touching dense forests. From here the Chandrashila trek starts and a feeling of touching Chandrashila apex starts giving inner joy to scale further.
How to reach Tungnath:
1st day : Rishikesh to Chopta (222 km) road
2nd day : Chopta to Tungnath & Chandrashila, back to Chopta (10 km ) trek
3rd day : back to Rishikesh
