Rates of horse, mules on Yamunotri trek (27th April, 2016): This year (2016), the rates for horses, mules, dandi and kandi have been increased by 15% for the Yamunotri trek. In addition to this, the additional charge on night stay has also been increased.
The tender for this work is floated by district panchayat every year for interested contractors. The tender includes the rates and terms of conditions for the execution of the service. The increase in the rates has been done in anticipation of large tourist flow this year and the contractors had not been earning much for last two years due to very low volume of tourism flow.
The contractors of mules and horses have started reaching Janki Chatti from different regions. The registration of the mules and horses shall start from 1st May, 2016.
Rope way proposed at Garur Ganga:
The proposed interim helipad shall not be constructed at Yamunotri. The place has already been identified for ropeway. The Helipad at Garur Ganga was proposed by temple committee, but due to forest clearance objection, the plan to construct helipad has been cancelled.
