Bungee Jumping in Rishikesh

bungee1Bungee Jumping in Rishikesh: Bungee Jumping is a very exciting sport which means to jump from a tall structure with the help of an elastic cord attached to you. The tall structure may be a building, crane or bridge. The adventure sports companies also build artificial horizontal platform to jump down to have the experience of bungee jumping.  The bungee Jumping can also be done with the help of movable objects like hot air balloon or helicopter. The principal behind the bungee Jumping is the dissipation of kinetic energy through the elastic cord hence no harm to the jumper who dives down and bounces back after reaching the last point of the cord length. The cord stretches and recoils back and keeps oscillating until the jumper reaches to stability. In some other countries the Bungee word is also spelled bungy.

The Bungee word meant “Anything thick and squat” but later in 1930, the meaning became used for a rubber erase. The origin of the word may mean anything but the reference to this sport means jumping from a height with the help of an elastic cord.

There are very few places for bungee jumping in Uttarakhand, but the prominent one is in Mohan Chatti, Rishikesh. The Bungee Jumping platform in Rishikesh boasts of India’s highest fixed platform BUNGY JUMPING (Bungee) which is a cantilever platform built on top of an iron cliff overlooking a river HYUL, a tributary of River Ganga.

The jump is made by providing a rubber cord tied to your ankles. As soon as you reach to the edge of the jumping platform you would feel the adrenaline rush like never before. When you jump the whole excitement turns to one time memory, which will forever remain in your nostalgia. The whole adventure activity is supervised under highly skilled professionals. As soon as finish your jump, you walk up to the cafeteria and watch your photograph and video of your jump. Last but not the least , don’t forget to collect your “Dare to Jump” certificate.

There are few other events which are also conducted with bungee jumping. Those are flying fox, swing and zip line.
