Himanchal Pradesh is one of the most attractive places for trekkers. There are several trek routes in the state, and thousands of enthusiasts reach here to fulfill their desire to trek these magnificent trek routes. One of the favourite treks in the state of Himanchal Pradesh is Indrahar pass trek which starts from McLeodganj (Dharamsala) in the Kangra valley , and ends at Chamba. The best season to visit this route is from mid May to June and September to October. The minimum possible days to complete this trek is 5 days. One can come close to the Himalayan flora and fauna while journeying this adventurous trek such as birds, goats, Deodar and Rhododendron forests.
While trekking this route one gets the chance to have a glimpse of beautiful Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal Mountain ranges. The trek is a moderate graded trek route and one can come across plenty of natural beauty such as green pastures, snow clad mountains, dense forests etc. The magnificent view of Mani Mahesh Kailash peak and Pir Panjal range is one of the most attractive features of this trek.
Itinerary: The trek starts from McLeodganj (Dharamsala) and ends at Chamba.
Day 1: McLeodganj (2196 m/7,200 ft) to Triund (2994 m/9818 ft): The Trek starts from McLeodganj and for further 10 km (3/4 hours trek) is Triund via Dhramkot. The overnight stay is done at this place-Triund.
Day 2: Triund – Lahesh Cave (3598 m/11800 ft):
The distance of the trek this day is around 9 km (3-4 hours trek). The trekkers will walk through blossoming ground, with conifer and oak trees along the path. Lahesh Cave is the point to stay overnight.
Day 3: Lahesh Cave – Indrahar Pass (4375 m/14,350 ft):
Today’s trek stretches 12 km (6-7 hours trek) which includes the extensive snowfield of the Indrahar Pass. The trek offers magnificent view of the Pir Panjal Range (4,100 m) in the North direction and the Mani Mahesh Kailash peak (5656 m)in the East direction.
Day 4: Chatru Parao – Kuarsi (2747 m/9010 ft):
The distance to be covered on this day is 15 km (6-7 hrs trek) and the meadows on the way will make your day until you reach your destination of the day – Kuarsi.
Day 5: Kuarsi – Machetar (5886 ft) – Chamba:
The final day is the downwards trek to reach Machetar, which is 16 km trek (5- 6 hrs trek). At Machetar, the motor road starts and another 80 km in vehicle finally ends your journey to Chamba.
