India

About: India, a south Asian country, is located in the southern part of Asia with New Delhi as its capital. The country is bordered by China to the north and northeast; Pakistan to the east; Bangladesh is surrounded by India; Nepal & Bhutan to the North; Myanmar to the east.

Population and Area: India is the world’s seventh-largest country area wise with a total area of 3.287 million km². The country has 29 states and 7 Union Territories.  The population of India was approximately 1.324 billion in 2016 according to World Bank.

Origin: India is well known to have a rich history starting from flourishing civilization of Harappan civilization and Vedic civilization. The Harappan civilization started in 2nd millinium BC, whereas the traces of the beginning of Vedic civilization started with the end of Harappan civilization. India has been ruled by various rulers and kings which include Chandragupta Maurya, Ashoka the Great, Harshvardhan,  and various other empires from Gupta dynasty, Pala dynasty, slave dynasty, Mughal empire and British empire.   India got its freedom from British empire in year – 1947, and the present form of government is based on the constitution of Republic of India.
