About: China, an Asian country, covers a vast area stretching from east to the central part of the Asia. The surrounding countries are as follows: Tajikistan, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Laos, North Korea, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, and Vietnam. The capital of China is Beijing.
Population and Area:China has a total area of 9.597 million km² with 22 provinces / states. The population of the country was 1.379 billion in the year – 2016 according to World Bank.
Origin: The origin of Chinese civilization begins from as early as 1500 BC. The popular dynasties like Shang dynasty, Zhou dynasty, and Han dynasty played a great role in the making of China. One of the important dates in the Chinese history starts with the marking of Imperial China which began with Qing dynasty in 221 BC. The last empire which ruled China was Qing dynasty (1644 – 1912), followed by the formation of Republic of China.
Tourism: China is the most visited country in Asia by international tourists, and 4th most visited country in world. As of 2016, China accounted for 21% of the world’s international tourism spending, which is USD 261 billion. In the year-2016, China witnesses about 138 million inbound trips which was a 3.5% increase from the previous year – 2015. The contribution of tourism in the Chinese economy was 9 % of GDP (% of GDP) in 2016.
Attractions: There are 52 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in China and few are as follows: Great Wall of China; Forbidden City; Temple of Heaven; Zhoukoudian; Summer Palace; Eastern Qing tombs; Ming tombs; and Western Qing tombs.
