George Nathaniel Curzon (11th January 1859 – 20th March 1925) was born at Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire, England.  He served as Viceroy of India during 1899 to 1905 and during his tenure he created Eastern Bengal and Assam. He also served as Under – Secretary of State for India during 1891 to 1892.

The Viceroy and Governor – General of India, commonly known as Viceroy of India was originally the head of the British administration in India. The office was created under the title of Governor – General of the Presidency of the Fort William in 1773, Later changed to Viceroy and Governor – General,  in order to look after the business interests in Indian subc
ontinent. The first Governor – General of Fort William was Warren Hasings, whereas the last Governor – General was C Rajagopalachari.

The trekking route which the Lord Curzon had trekked in 1905 in the Garhwal area is known as Curzon trail. The trek route is commonly known as Kuari pass.
